We were based in Ubud, a center village of the Island, surrounded by monkeys forrests and rice paddies. Bali looks small on the map, but then you are able to drive around a little part of the island for 7 hours and not see more but secluded villages and mysterious lake sceneries.,We went to the Hot Springs in the North of the Island, but depending on where you are staying it is a pretty long drive. Talking about driving it is absolutely crazy and totally "inspector clueso style"! In general the Island had little tourists in late August, and Sanur and Kuta beach were bearable. Long sand beaches, in Kuta the waves and surfing are the main attraction. The best thing is to rent a motobike if the rides are not too long, if not a car will do fine too... Mango juices and local dishes are very yummy, but in general you can find all sorts of food and entertainment. But who would go to such a visual nourishing natural place to be distracted by the things that we have at home? Just sit back,...
